Choose an object. Any object that is familiar. Hold it in your hand and watch it. Then tell someone what it means to you. Talk to a group people what it means for you. Keep it on your desk at work. Carry it in your pocket when not at work. Give this object a whole tenderness Your heart may feel toward the precious things in life. Try to understand your relationship to this object in the strongest terms the personal - how you felt about this in the past, how do you feel now what the future might bring.
"Show and Tell" This helps us adults related the small, seemingly insignificant things in life we take for granted - we're not related. It contributes to more life to our lives.
We are uniquely individual in our perception of life, amazingly creative ways in which we relate internally what we love. And while the need for love and desire for love, both for others and for the everyday environment in which we live is important to us all, the inner language of love and tenderness has all the nuances of individual color that we see and know, and more.
To feel a full measure of affection toward one thing is that it can begin to flow to all things. To feel affection towards a small, seemingly insignificant object is starting to take nothing for granted - to claim our place in life, to define our purpose here to give us a presence voice and sense.
"Show and Tell" for adults is about relationship, and this experience tenderness in the life. He observes life at retail in the microcosm of everything, and invites us to embrace, even the ordinary things we encounter during the day with a fullness of heart.
Here is a table that I sit once a day to eat my morning meal. Here is a shoe or slipper that I put when I go work. Here is the Remote Control for television that I hold in my hand as I look for in a manner satisfactory to soothe a tired mind. Here is a flower that my son or my daughter gave it to me for no reason at all ...
We need to talk to other small and tender things in life to reveal our hearts. We need to make visible the heart that beats inside, not only for our own good, because it allows us breathe more freely, but for the love of others that we meet in the deepest possible. Tenderness on small insignificant details of life place in our hearts. It draws our attention to this. It activates a sense of gratitude that can be part of our daily lives the same way that the walking or eating, or thinking becomes part of our daily lives. Tenderness can become the backdrop to everything.
When we share the significance of small things with others, we invite them to reach the tenderness in themselves - to see what objects, details, or experiences they can be bypassed because they seemed too small to notice.
"Show and Tell" - a spiritual practice to reveal the heart, allows us to become like children, enjoy the beauty and wonder in small things, able to embrace each day with a heart of innocence.
