Promote PTO Fundraisers in Elementary School PTO Newsletters

Running a PTO program is something that takes patience, leadership, passion, and organization.  The president of the PTO does not need to have one of these, but all of these.  All of these characteristics are vital when running a successful PTO.  It can be very hard and difficult at times, but you are not alone.  There are ways that PTO members can make it easier for them to get their points across.  A great idea is an elementary school PTO newsletter. This way you can keep the entire organization connected and on top of things.

If your PTO holds fundraisers, than your newsletter is the perfect place to advertise your PTO Fundraiser. In fact you should let people know what PTO fundraising activities are coming up so they can be kept up to date.

An elementary school PTO newsletter is one of many things that officers of PTO can do in order to better organize the PTO and keep them up to date.  As in any newsletter you want to make sure that it has many different parts.

If there is a main topic for the newsletter, make sure that it is written at the top of the page and is in bold print.  This way everyone who reads the newsletter will know automatically what is the most important issue.  A great way to keep the PTO members active and unified is to have a discussion board. This is can be a question or a statement, or anything that may get people to respond to.

Every group works better when they work together, so by adding this discussion board the PTO members can hear different sides of opinions.  You can also have a birthday section where it lists all of the PTO member's birthdays of that month.  Inspirational quotes are always great in any newsletter.  You can even put in a comic strip or something that will keep the readers entertained.

You want to address the major topics, but you also want to make sure that it is entertaining because if it is not, nobody will read it.  If you are in charge of creating the elementary school PTO newsletter, don't feel the pressure.  Get others to take specific parts of the newsletter so you won't have to do it all yourself.

If you know a member who is always bringing in new recipes and tasty treats, get them to write it in the newsletter.  If you have someone who always knows great inspirational quotes, ask them to send one in each month.  PTO newsletters are a lot of work, but there should not be only one person who is in charge of it.

Believe it or not, an elementary school PTO newsletter is a big deal.  Parents really do look forward to receiving theirs every month.  It keeps them in touch with the school, their kids, and other PTO members.

Most of us, however, cannot document that intersection with the force, compression, and poignancy expressed in Art Spiegelman's In the Shadow of No Towers...

Started in the early 1980s by a troupe of now-established comedy actors (most notably Adrian Edmondson, Dawn French, Rik Mayall, and Jennifer Saunders), THE COMIC STRIP offered audiences an alternative to the ‘safe’ humour of its day. The show left no taboo unturned, with its shocking and often offensive portrayals of violence, sex, bestiality, and explicit drug use (not to mention all the swearing and puerile fart-gags). But despite the controversy--or perhaps because of it--THE COMIC STRIP drew a cult following for its anti-establishment views which resonated with the younger generations. Father of the Comic Strip

Father of the Comic Strip

$55

Sixty years before the comics entered the American newspaper press, Rodolphe Töpffer of Geneva (1799-1846), schoolmaster, university professor, polemical journalist, art critic, landscape draftsman, and writer of fiction, travel tales, and social criticism, invented a new art form: the comic strip, or "picture story," that is now the graphic novel. At first he resisted publishing what he called his "little follies." When he did, they became instantly popular, plagiarized, and imitated throughout Europe and the United States.Töpffer developed a graphic style suited to his poor eyesight: the doodle, which he systematized and also theorized. The drawings, with their "modernist" spontaneous, flickering, broken lines, forming figures in mad hyperactivity, run above deft, ironic captions and propel narratives of surreal absurdity. The artist's maniacal protagonists mix social satire with myth. By the mid-nineteenth century, Messrs. Jabot, Festus, Cryptogame, and other members of the crazy family, comprising eight picture stories in all, were instant folk heroes. In a biographical framework, Kunzle situates the comic strips in the Genevan and European culture of the time as well as in relation to Töpffer's other work, notably his hilarious travel tales, and recounts their curious genesis (with an initial imprimatur from Goethe, no less) and their controversial success. Kunzle's study, the first in English on the writer-artist, accompanies Rodolphe Töpffer: The Complete Comic Strips, a facsimile edition of the strips themselves, with the first-ever translation of these into English. David Kunzle is a professor of art history at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the author of many books on popular culture and graphic arts, including History of the Comic Strip: The Nineteenth Century
